Part 2 - Technological Information

The best way to describe Schools in the Miramichi is that they are Technologically advanced. Every school in the district has many computers. For example Nelson Rural School - 2 Computer labs that have 30 computers in each lab. 1 Class set of laptop computers - 27 laptops. In addition to that the Library has 10 computers for student use. Each Teacher has atleast one classroom computer and a portable laptop. The School is entirely wireless, so internet connections possible.
Each school has a polycom system - that's correct every school in the district has Polycom and every teacher can skype. Since we have such and excellent support staff we can videoconference in every school. We prefer to communicate with other teachers one on one using skype and interaction classrooms via polycom or Bridgit.
What is Bridgit? - It comes from a SMART Board.
What is a SMART Board? - it is an interactive whiteboard system used in our schools. EVERY CLASSROOM in EVERY SCHOOL has a SMART Board.
Bridgit conferencing is a new wave of conferencing using video and interacitve whiteboards to communicate lessons across the world. A classroom in Spain could easily interact with a classroom in Miramichi (except for the time difference). Teachers could teach similar lessons across the world.
If there is something that will benefit schools in Miramichi and most importantly students in the Miramichi our district has it. If we do not have it on hand we will get it. Our Students Come First.

Part 3 - What is the objective of your school with regards to Internationalization?
